
Patna, June 1: Kathy Giles-Diaz, the newly appointed US Consul General based in Kolkata, met with Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, on Monday in Patna. This courtesy meeting aimed to strengthen mutual cooperation between Bihar and the United States across various sectors.
During the meeting, Deputy CM Yadav briefed the US Consul General on Bihar’s rich historical background and ongoing developmental projects in the state. Several initiatives from Bihar have gained national attention.
The discussion also covered the regional activities and priorities of the US Consulate, aiming to enhance dialogue between both parties. Special emphasis was placed on accelerating Bihar’s economic development and identifying new areas for technical and developmental collaboration that align with the state’s needs.
Bihar’s Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, has consistently advocated for the use of technology. The meeting included a three-member expert team from the US Consulate, comprising Sangeeta De Chanda, an economic affairs expert, Nayantara Shroff, press and media assistant, and Aniruddha Ghosh, security liaison officer.
Deputy CM Yadav expressed gratitude for the US Consul General and her delegation’s visit to Bihar. In turn, the Consul General praised the hospitality of the Bihar government and its commitment to development. The Secretary of the Finance Department (Expenditure), Rachna Patil, was also present. This meeting is viewed as a significant step towards Bihar’s development.
