New Delhi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move to bolster cultural ties, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi met with Bangladesh’s Cultural Affairs Minister, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, on September 6. The meeting focused on enhancing cultural cooperation between the two nations.
The Indian Embassy in Bangladesh shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X. According to their post, the discussion emphasized the long-standing cultural relations between India and Bangladesh, highlighting the need to strengthen these connections further. The meeting also included the presence of State Minister for Cultural Affairs, Ali Nawaz Mahmood Khayyam.
Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in areas such as classical music, folk art, heritage preservation, and joint cultural programs and conferences. They specifically discussed activities related to the ‘Nazrul Barsho’ celebration.
These initiatives aim to deepen the bonds between the people of India and Bangladesh. Earlier, High Commissioner Trivedi also held courtesy meetings with prominent figures, including Major (Retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed, the Speaker of the Ethnic Parliament, and Vice Chairman Barrister Kaiser Kamal.
The embassy noted that the High Commissioner emphasized the importance of parliamentary engagement between the two sovereign and democratic nations to strengthen the existing ties between Indian and Bangladeshi citizens. Discussions included the formation of parliamentary friendship groups, bilateral visits of parliamentary delegations under the supervision of both Speakers, collaboration between parliamentary committees, and the digitization of parliamentary documents.
