Moscow, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant development, Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a three-day ceasefire against Ukraine following a meeting at the Kremlin with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The discussions, which lasted over three hours, were described by Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov as “very open and clear.” He noted that the American side presented several suggestions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict. Following this meeting, the U.S. diplomats are set to travel to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In response to the discussions, Zelensky announced that Ukraine would refrain from attacking Russian cities involved in the negotiation process. He took to social media platform X to confirm, “From now until the end of Saturday, and also on Sunday and Monday, Ukraine is prepared not to strike Moscow.”
Zelensky expressed hope that Russia would reciprocate by taking similar measures concerning Kyiv. Ushakov indicated that crucial issues were addressed during the formal discussions, followed by informal talks during dinner.
Putin reiterated Russia’s commitment to working with the U.S. to find a political and diplomatic resolution to the issues related to Ukraine. Ushakov further stated that the Russian side provided a detailed assessment of the situation developing during the special military operation, emphasizing the real progress made by Russian forces on the battlefield. He underscored the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict to achieve lasting peace.
This diplomatic engagement comes at a critical time as efforts to find a resolution to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continue.
