Unity in Diversity: Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati Highlights Indias Cultural Identity

Bhubaneswar, June 21: Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, the Governor of Odisha, addressed the West Bengal Foundation Day celebration held at the new Abhishek Hall in Lok Bhawan on Sunday. He emphasized that unity in diversity is India’s greatest strength and the foundation of its stability and progress.

In his speech, the Governor stated that every language, culture, tradition, and community enriches India’s unique identity rooted in diversity. He highlighted that celebrating each other’s festivals, learning different languages, and embracing various traditions help strengthen relationships among people.

This sentiment reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ which promotes deep cultural understanding and emotional integration among the people of different states.

Wishing the people of West Bengal well, the Governor described the state as one of the most vibrant and culturally rich regions in India. He underscored West Bengal’s significant contributions to literature, art, science, and nation-building, noting that Kolkata is regarded as India’s cultural capital, being the birthplace of great personalities like Rabindranath Tagore and Satyajit Ray.

Dr. Kambhampati also praised West Bengal’s rich cultural heritage, evident in its music, theater, cuisine, and festivals. He specifically mentioned Durga Puja, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Highlighting the close ties between Odisha and West Bengal, the Governor noted that the relationship is based on shared history, cultural connections, and spiritual traditions. He appreciated the contributions of West Bengal residents living in Odisha and called for strengthening ties between the two states to build a more inclusive, harmonious, and prosperous India.

During the event, the Governor’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Dr. Rupa Roshan Sahu, delivered the welcome address. Residents of West Bengal residing in Odisha shared their experiences, while a cultural program added vibrancy to the celebration.
