Tehran, July 23: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it has inflicted significant damage on US military bases in Jordan. According to the IRGC, precise strikes have destroyed the American THAAD missile defense system and the Patriot system.
In addition to these critical US defense systems, the IRGC claimed to have targeted and destroyed the C-RAM radar. This information was released through a statement on their official news and public relations portal, Sepah News.
The IRGC further stated that fires broke out in fuel tanks and hangars used for the maintenance and repair of helicopters at the US military base, leading to their complete destruction.
In its statement, the IRGC addressed the people of Jordan, clarifying its position. They asserted, “Our military action does not violate Jordan’s sovereignty; rather, the presence of US military forces in the country infringes upon Jordan’s sovereignty. Targeting US military bases is a legitimate and necessary action.”
However, Jordan has not yet responded to these claims. Previously, the IRGC had also claimed attacks on US military assets in Kuwait.
Iran reported that it targeted the Al-Adiri Camp and Ali Al-Salem Air Base. This claim comes at a time when the Kuwaiti military has confirmed suspicious drone activities in its airspace.
The Kuwaiti military stated on the social media platform X that its air defense systems were confronting threats from enemy drones. They reported that the explosions heard at night were part of actions taken by air defense systems to intercept these drones.
Earlier, the US military announced that, under the orders of President Donald Trump, it had conducted military operations against Iran for the twelfth consecutive night.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces targeted several Iranian military installations, including maritime military capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance posts, and air defense systems.
