New Delhi, July 11: Former MP and Congress leader Dr. Udit Raj has made a significant statement regarding the party’s internal dynamics. He has targeted the factionalism within Congress, attributing it as a primary reason for the party’s electoral defeat.
In a post on the social media platform X, Dr. Raj stated that the internal discord within Congress is not only a major factor in losing elections but also a significant reason for the party’s organizational weakness. He expressed confusion over how infighting could yield any positive outcomes.
Dr. Raj pointed out that factionalism caused Congress to miss the opportunity to form a government in Uttarakhand. He urged leaders and workers in Punjab to learn from this experience, recalling that Punjab also suffered from severe factionalism during the last assembly elections. He noted that the party president seemed to have a mandate to oppose every decision made by their own government, resulting in their defeat.
He emphasized that if the struggle to protect the Constitution and the sacrifices made by Rahul Gandhi are to be honored, the party must avoid infighting. Any issues or disagreements within the organization should be addressed through appropriate party channels.
Earlier, Dr. Raj criticized the Yogi government over the murder of a Dalit girl in Meerut, stating that while there is a rule of law in Uttar Pradesh, it seems to be used primarily for the oppression of Dalits, backward classes, and minorities.
He condemned the actions of the Meerut SSP, who allegedly assaulted Ravi Gautam for raising his voice for justice for the Dalit victim. Dr. Raj questioned whether such actions would be taken against others, citing the lack of similar treatment towards those involved in farmer protests or the Kavad Yatra, where incidents of violence are common. He pointed out that the main accused received bail, questioning what would have happened if the accused were from a Dalit, OBC, or minority background, suggesting their homes would have been demolished by now.
