London, July 11: In an exhilarating all-Czech final held on Centre Court, ninth-seeded Linda Noskova triumphed over compatriot Karolina Muchova with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, securing her first Wimbledon Women’s Singles title.

Noskova showcased remarkable composure throughout the championship match. After losing the second set, she mounted a stunning comeback, clinching victory in three sets and marking the most significant achievement of her career.

The 21-year-old player effectively utilized her powerful serve, delivering 10 aces compared to Muchova’s six. She also had a slight edge in first-serve percentage, winning 75% of her first serves against Muchova’s 71%, and converted four out of 13 break-point opportunities.

After losing the first set, tenth-seeded Muchova made a strong comeback, winning the second set 7-5 and pushing the match to a decisive third set. However, Noskova regained control with aggressive baseline play, maintaining her composure at crucial moments to secure the match.

Noskova outscored Muchova with a total of 109 points to 92 and won 17 games, clearly demonstrating her dominance in the two-hour match.

This victory marks Noskova’s first Wimbledon title and a significant Grand Slam win, while Muchova, despite another impressive performance on the sport’s biggest stage, had to settle for being the runner-up.

At 21, Noskova becomes the youngest Wimbledon champion since Czech legend Petra Kvitova, who won her first title in 2011 and watched Noskova’s victory from the Royal Box. Noskova now joins the select group of Czech players who have begun their Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon with a win.

After a memorable two-week journey, Noskova departs SW19 with the Venus Rosewater Dish trophy and is expected to reach a career-high ranking of seventh in the WTA Tour rankings, set to be released on Monday. In her first Grand Slam final, Noskova appeared poised to win the Wimbledon title, but after leading 5-2 in the second set, she lost her rhythm, allowing Muchova to rally and take the set. Ultimately, Noskova needed six championship points and a victory in the third set to claim her first Grand Slam title.
