New Delhi, July 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent tour of Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand has been hailed by BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh as a significant boost to India’s global economic and strategic standing.
In an interview with a news agency, Vallabh emphasized that this tour was not limited to bilateral relations but aimed to present a robust ‘Indo-Pacific Economic Model’ to the world. He also criticized the ongoing internal strife within the Punjab Congress, asserting that the party would be reduced to single-digit seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
Vallabh stated that Modi’s visit would establish a new model of economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The agreements reached with these three countries are expected to accelerate India’s trade, investment, energy, defense, agriculture, and technological development in the coming years. During Modi’s visit to Indonesia, extensive discussions were held on critical topics such as defense equipment exports, the steel industry, rare earth processing, and digital public infrastructure. India’s UPI and digital public infrastructure model has become a focal point for many countries, with several expressing interest in adopting it.
The BJP leader noted that during the Australia visit, there was a particular emphasis on uranium and critical minerals. These minerals play a vital role in battery manufacturing, the semiconductor industry, and high-tech manufacturing. Significant discussions were held on enhancing the import-export of these minerals between India and Australia, strengthening international trade, and increasing collaboration in energy and education sectors. Both countries have immense potential in these areas, and this cooperation is expected to benefit both economies in the future. Regarding the New Zealand visit, Vallabh highlighted that New Zealand is among the world’s leading countries in agricultural technology. Agreements were reached on topics such as technological intervention in agriculture, service mobility, and market access.
He mentioned that under the agreements, New Zealand companies are expected to invest around ₹35,000 crores in India by 2030, potentially creating about 200,000 new jobs. This agreement will bring significant opportunities for India’s economy and its youth. Modi’s entire tour exemplifies how the Indo-Pacific region can become a new hub for global trade and economic development. India, in collaboration with these three nations, has presented a successful and practical model of economic cooperation to the world.
Ahead of the Punjab assembly elections, Vallabh raised concerns about the ongoing turmoil within the Congress organization and questioned the claims of state in-charge Bhupesh Baghel that “everything is normal.” He stated that when a political party becomes leaderless, policy-less, and directionless, such situations arise. The Congress is plagued by multiple factions and sub-factions, leading to a continuous weakening of the organization. If Baghel meets one faction, another becomes disgruntled, and attempts to bring both together only lead to the emergence of a third faction. The situation within Punjab Congress has become a glaring example of the party’s internal weaknesses.
Vallabh sarcastically remarked that every Congress leader aspires to be the Chief Minister, but they must first understand that to become a Chief Minister, one must be an elected legislator. The Congress lacks qualified candidates who can win elections, and he predicts a dismal performance for the party in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections. He confidently asserted that Congress would be reduced to single-digit seats in the upcoming elections.
“I say this with full responsibility: Congress will be a single-digit party in Punjab this time. After the election results, feel free to ask me the same question again. Congress’s legislators will not exceed single digits,” he stated.
