Beijing, July 11: Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Namibian President Hage Geingob on July 10 in Beijing. The two leaders advanced bilateral relations into a new era, establishing a community with a shared future between China and Namibia.
Xi emphasized the deep traditional friendship and mutual development between the two nations. He expressed China’s readiness to enhance cooperation in development concepts and strategies, aiming for joint modernization.
During the talks, Xi proposed three suggestions for building a community with a shared future in the new era. These include strengthening mutual support, deepening dialogue on concepts, enhancing cooperation levels, and maintaining unity and coordination to safeguard multilateralism.
Xi noted that assisting Africa with its abundant mineral resources is crucial for transforming these resources into a development engine, thereby accelerating the continent’s modernization. China is prepared to increase mineral cooperation with Namibia and other African countries.
President Geingob highlighted the long-standing friendship between Namibia and China. He expressed a desire for Namibia to learn from China’s experiences and to further develop their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Both sides are expected to strengthen cooperation in various sectors, including industry, minerals, infrastructure, aerospace, science and technology, agriculture, and water conservation.
Following the talks, several cooperation documents were signed in the presence of both leaders, covering trade, health, education, and human resources. A joint statement was also issued regarding the construction of a community with a shared future in the new era.
