New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has stressed the importance of making government service rules more responsive to the needs of employees and their families. Speaking at the launch of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) Forum’s ‘CSS Shield’ initiative, he highlighted the potential for collective efforts to support the families of deceased employees, fostering a culture of solidarity among colleagues during challenging times.
The ‘CSS Shield’ initiative aims to provide mutual assistance to the families of CSS officers who have passed away. During the event, Singh offered financial aid to the families of late officers Mohan Chandra Bhatt and Rajendra Chandra.
When colleagues unite to assist a grieving family, it sends a positive message not only within the organization but also to society at large, Singh noted. He added that this initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance the sensitivity of government systems towards the needs of employees and their families.
Referencing the leadership style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh mentioned that there is a continual encouragement to review rules and procedures, making necessary changes where improvements are needed.
According to government sources, representatives from the CSS Forum indicated that prior to the formal launch of ‘CSS Shield,’ the forum had already been supporting the families of deceased CSS officers through voluntary contributions.
The need for a structured and robust support system became even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw the loss of several CSS officers. Since 2020, CSS officers have collectively contributed approximately 1.3 crore rupees, providing financial assistance to around 65 to 70 families of deceased officers.
Under the new initiative, the forum aims to provide at least 1.5 million rupees to each grieving family, with plans to increase this amount as participation grows in the future.
