Ludhiana, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : A significant operation against gangsters took place in Ludhiana, Punjab, on September 13, when the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and local police foiled a potential shooting plot. The encounter occurred near Aatm Park, resulting in the deaths of two armed associates of the Doni Ball gang.
Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma identified the deceased as Karanjot Singh, known as Nono, and Sandeep Singh, both residents of Amritsar. Authorities recovered three sophisticated automatic pistols and approximately 50 cartridges from the suspects.
According to Commissioner Sharma, police received precise intelligence about a planned attack. Following this, a joint team from the AGTF and Ludhiana Police set up a special blockade in the area near Aatm Park. When officers attempted to stop two suspicious individuals riding a black motorcycle without a license plate, the suspects fled and opened fire on the police.
During the chase, the suspects fired multiple rounds, even hitting a police vehicle. In response, law enforcement returned fire, resulting in the immediate deaths of both assailants.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two suspects were directly linked to gangsters Doni Ball and Shaganpreet Singh. They had been tasked with orchestrating a mass shooting at a blood donation camp held at the Maryland Palace on Dugri Road that day.
Commissioner Sharma noted that Karanjot Singh had a criminal history, facing charges under the Arms Act, robbery, and the NDPS Act. Sandeep Singh also had a criminal case registered against him.
The police are currently identifying other accomplices involved in the plot, with plans to apprehend them soon. In connection with this incident, a case has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act, with further investigations underway.
