Allegations of Sexual Assault Against Psychology Trainee in Ranchi

Ranchi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Ranchi, Jharkhand, have launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving a psychology trainee at the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in the Kanke area. The complaint was filed at the Kanke police station.

According to the report, the female trainee, who is pursuing clinical psychology, resides in the institute’s postgraduate hostel. The accused, Sarthak Chaudhary, is also a student at the institute, currently enrolled in an MPhil program, and lives in the same hostel room, number 54.

The complaint states that hostel rules permit students to visit each other’s rooms. On the night of June 28, around 10 PM, the trainee reportedly went to Chaudhary’s room to study for a psychological assessment exercise.

The victim claims that after studying for a while, she began to feel dizzy. During this time, the accused allegedly offered her water from a steel bottle. Initially hesitant, she eventually drank the water after he insisted.

Shortly thereafter, the victim’s condition worsened. The accused then purportedly suggested that she rest on the bed. When she attempted to leave the room and protested, he allegedly assaulted her.

Following the incident, the woman sought justice by approaching the police. Based on her complaint, the Kanke police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Authorities are currently interrogating the accused and examining available evidence.

Investigating officers are also recording the victim’s statement and assessing the crime scene and other relevant details. Police have indicated that further legal action will be taken once the investigation is complete.
