
Gonda, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, two brothers were arrested early Monday morning for assaulting a police response vehicle (PRV) with bricks, stones, and a sickle. The suspects, identified as Girwar Dayal alias Naga and Shivdayal alias Sachin, both residents of Chirras village, were apprehended around 4 a.m.
The incident occurred on the night of August 6-7 in the Chirras area of the Kaudiya police station. Police received reports of stone-pelting directed at their patrol. Upon arrival, the police team, led by Station House Officer Shashi Kumar Rana, was met with aggression from the suspects.
According to police reports, Girwar and Shivdayal attacked the officers with stones and attempted to use a sickle against them. Some members of the police team sustained injuries during the unexpected assault and were treated at a local community health center before being released.
Following the attack, police filed a case at the Kaudiya police station and initiated a search for the assailants. The brothers were arrested shortly after. In a video that surfaced post-arrest, both men admitted their wrongdoing and expressed remorse, stating, “We made a mistake. We threw stones and attacked the police with a sickle. We regret our actions and assure it won’t happen again.”
Authorities revealed that both brothers have a history of criminal activity documented at the Kaudiya police station. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motives behind the attack, the weapons used, and other related factors.
Circle Officer Anant Rai confirmed that police responded promptly to the attack and that the injured officers received necessary medical attention. He assured that the investigation is being conducted thoroughly, and actions will be taken based on the findings.
