Lucknow, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has called on residents to promote literacy and digital education in the state, marking International Literacy Day. Speaking on September 7, he emphasized that education should go beyond just reading and writing. It should nurture knowledge, values, discipline, confidence, and a deeper understanding of life.
In his message, “Yogi ki Paati,” Adityanath reflected on his recent honor of 81 educators on Teacher’s Day, recognizing their role in shaping the nation. He described teachers as beacons of knowledge who illuminate the path for future generations. The celebration of International Literacy Day on September 8 will focus on expanding knowledge and empowering every individual.
Adityanath highlighted that children attend school for more than just literacy skills. The broader goal of education is to equip them with values, discipline, confidence, and an understanding that guides them in life. He noted that India’s ancient educational traditions, such as Gurukuls, served as holistic learning centers, imparting both knowledge and life values. This philosophy should underpin today’s educational system.
He asserted that knowledge is only meaningful when it simplifies life and benefits society. With technology rapidly transforming everyday life, the need for digital and AI literacy has become crucial. Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and deep tech are opening new opportunities in education, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and employment.
The state government is working to integrate traditional knowledge with modern science, technology, and skills. Initiatives such as AI City in Lucknow and the evolving drone and UAV ecosystem in Kanpur are paving the way for Uttar Pradesh’s technological future.
Adityanath also mentioned various government programs aimed at enhancing educational quality, school facilities, competitive exam preparedness, and youth skill development. These efforts have significantly reduced dropout rates in schools, ensuring more children are connected to mainstream education.
He emphasized the vital role of teachers in this process. They instill values, curiosity, discipline, confidence, and a sense of responsibility in students while linking traditional Indian knowledge with modern innovations. The Chief Minister urged that the commitment to literacy cannot succeed without community support. If anyone around is illiterate, it is everyone’s duty to help them learn.
On International Literacy Day, he called upon residents to commit that every child goes to school, every student receives quality education, every youth engages with skills and innovation, and every citizen becomes literate and aware of digital knowledge and AI.
