Mumbai, July 11: The Ghatkopar police have arrested TV actor Rohit Chandel. He faces allegations of harassing a 16-year-old girl through repeated phone calls, stalking, and physical assault.
Authorities have filed a case against him under the POCSO Act. According to the complaint, the accused, who resides in the eastern suburbs, repeatedly called the minor from his and several other numbers. The complaint also states that on July 5, he confronted the girl near her residential building, followed her, engaged in a fight, verbally abused her, and physically assaulted her.
Police reported that the accused had called the girl multiple times between December 2025 and July 7. Rohit Chandel began his acting career with supporting roles and gained significant recognition through drama shows focused on youth and families.
In recent years, he has appeared in several popular TV shows, earning praise for his natural screen presence and ability to portray diverse roles. He made his television debut in 2014 and gradually built his career through various shows. His breakthrough role came when he played Peshwa Baji Rao in ‘Kashibai Bajirao Ballal,’ which garnered him considerable acclaim for his powerful screen presence. He was also featured in the streaming series ‘Escape Live.’
Chandel is quite active on social media, where he shares glimpses of his personal life, fitness routines, and behind-the-scenes moments from his shoots. However, due to the recent allegations, his social media activity is now under close scrutiny.
