Iran Engaged in Comprehensive Economic, Military, and Security Warfare: President Pagehshkian

Tehran, August 24: Iranian President Masoud Pagehshkian stated on Sunday that the country is in a pervasive economic, military, and security war against its adversaries.

In a televised address broadcast by the official news agency IRNA, Pagehshkian remarked, “Despite American pressure, we stand firm in this war and are committed to serving our people.”

He emphasized that the government is wholeheartedly working to reduce inflation and resolve the economic issues facing citizens. According to IRNA, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that the United States has no option but to engage respectfully with the Iranian people.

He noted that the anti-Iran economic operations claimed by former President Donald Trump are merely a recurring scenario, reflecting the typical intimidation found in American policies. “In a sense, this is a film we have seen repeatedly, and we know how to handle it,” he added.

Indeed, on Wednesday, Trump announced on Truth Social the most severe economic operations against any country providing a lifeline to Iran. He described this move as an economic D-Day, stating, “This will be an unprecedented scale of economic warfare and isolation.”

Efforts for reconciliation between the U.S. and Iran have faced a significant setback. Both nations signed a memorandum on June 18 to end regional conflicts, including in Lebanon. Under this agreement, negotiations for a final deal were to be completed within 60 days, with the deadline expiring on Monday. However, renewed tensions last month have cast doubt over the negotiations, leaving the future of the agreement uncertain.

A senior Iranian security official warned neighboring countries and others against joining the U.S. economic pressure campaign against Iran, stating that Tehran would consider such nations as enemies.

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, mentioned in an interview with state channel IRIB TV that Iran would first attempt to engage in dialogue with the relevant countries, urging them not to participate in this economic war against Iran.
