Washington, April 2: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confusion regarding military objectives against Iran. He oscillates between suggesting a potential end to military operations and issuing threats. Recently, he warned that without a negotiated agreement, the U.S. military could return Iran to the Stone Age within weeks.
In a televised address on Wednesday, Trump claimed that Iran’s military has been decimated. He stated, “It has only been a month since the U.S. military launched Operation Epic Fury, targeting Iran, the world’s number one sponsor of terror.”
Trump asserted that significant progress is being made on the battlefield. He declared, “Tonight, Iran’s navy is finished. Their air force is destroyed. Their leaders are now dead. Iran’s missile and drone capabilities have been severely diminished, and their weapon facilities have been obliterated.”
He emphasized that this campaign is essential to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stating, “I have sworn that I will never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.” Trump labeled the current Iranian government as “the most violent regime on Earth.”
Referencing Operation Midnight Hammer and previous U.S. strikes, he remarked, “We have completely destroyed those nuclear sites. Iran attempted to rebuild its program elsewhere.”
Trump clarified that the goal is to eliminate Iran’s military capabilities and its ability to project power beyond its borders. He stated, “These primary strategic objectives are nearing completion.”
He warned that if negotiations fail, tensions will escalate. “In the next two to three weeks, we will take them back to the Stone Age. If no agreement is reached, the U.S. could target Iran’s electric infrastructure,” he added.
The president made it clear that regime change in Iran was not a predetermined goal. He noted that leadership changes have already occurred due to the deaths of their actual leaders.
Trump attributed the recent rise in global oil prices to Iran, citing terrorist attacks on commercial oil tankers. He urged oil-dependent countries in the Middle East to secure shipping routes and reduce their reliance on the region.
He praised regional allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain for their support in the campaign. Trump emphasized America’s economic strength, stating that the country is the world’s leading producer of oil and gas and can withstand disruptions related to the conflict. He acknowledged the loss of 13 U.S. soldiers and mentioned that their families had urged him to complete the mission.
Describing the operation as historically rapid, Trump claimed that it has neutralized a significant threat in just one month. He concluded, “We are on the verge of eliminating Iran’s dangerous threat to America and the world.”
