Irans Supreme Leader Calls for Planting Trees in Honor of War Victims

Tehran, April 2: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has urged the Iranian people to plant trees in memory of those killed in the U.S.-Israel attacks. He described this initiative as a symbol of prosperity, hope, and a national response against “enemies.”

According to the Xinhua news agency, Khamenei made these remarks in a message commemorating the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This message was also delivered ahead of the traditional occasion known as “Sizdah Bedar” or “Nature Day,” celebrated on April 2, marking the end of the Nowruz festival.

Khamenei praised the bravery of the Iranian people in their struggle against the U.S. and Israel, stating that the “merciless enemy” knows no bounds in its cruelty and has harmed Iran’s nature and environment through its attacks.

He called upon citizens in all Iranian cities and villages to continue the tree-planting campaign in collaboration with relevant government institutions from Nature Day until the end of spring on June 21.

On February 28, Israel and the U.S. launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of senior military commanders and civilians, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran initiated a series of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and U.S. assets in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian stated that the Iranian people harbor no animosity towards the American populace, while accusing the U.S. administration of acting as “Israel’s proxy” against Iran.

He made these comments in a letter addressed to the American public, elaborating on Iran’s stance regarding the ongoing conflict with the U.S. and Israel. Pajeshkian emphasized that “the Iranian people do not hold hostility towards any nation, including those in America, Europe, or neighboring countries.” He noted that despite facing foreign interventions and pressures throughout their glorious history, Iranians have always distinguished between governments and their people.

Pajeshkian asserted that Iran has never chosen the path of aggression, expansionism, colonialism, or dominance, despite facing occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers. He claimed that portraying Iran as a threat is a narrative crafted by Israel to divert global attention from its crimes against the Palestinians.

He referenced the U.S. military buildup and bases surrounding Iran, stating that the aggressions initiated from these bases demonstrate the dangers of such military presence.

In response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of large-scale attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure, Pajeshkian stated that such actions directly target the Iranian people and emphasized that these steps constitute “war crimes” with effects extending beyond Iran’s borders.

He questioned, “Is ‘America First’ truly among the current priorities of the U.S. government?” He concluded by stating that the world stands at a “crossroads,” where it must choose between confrontation and dialogue.
