
Godda, February 23: A significant accident occurred on Monday night in Godda, Jharkhand. A truck broke through a railing and fell onto the NTPC NGR railway track, colliding with a coal rake. Two individuals, including the truck driver, sustained injuries. NTPC officials confirmed the incident.
According to officials, the accident took place around 3:30 AM in Lalmatia, Godda. The NTPC rescue team was informed at 6 AM. The truck (registration number JH12S 7078) fell approximately 40 feet from the road onto the railway track, crashing into a passing coal rake.
The truck overturned as it fell, and the front section was severely damaged upon impact with the coal rake. This incident disrupted rail services on that section for several hours.
The driver became trapped under the train’s bogie, while his colleague remained stuck in the vehicle’s cabin. The injured were identified as driver Lalu Kumar and his associate Manish Kumar. Manish was trapped for three hours following the accident.
A local police team arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the accident. The rescue team managed to extract Manish from the truck’s cabin, after which he was taken to a nearby hospital. Shubhashish Banerjee, head of the NTPC rescue team, led the extraction operation.
Banerjee stated to a news agency, “We received information about the incident from senior command. As soon as we were informed, we immediately set out and began the rescue operation at the site. One person has been rescued, and the driver had already been freed.”
