New Delhi, June 16: On the death anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter, lawyer, social reformer, and nationalist leader ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das, central ministers, chief ministers, and BJP leaders paid their respects.
Union Minister Manohar Lal expressed his tribute on the social media platform X, stating, “I pay my humble respects on the death anniversary of the true servant of Mother India, the great freedom fighter ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das. Your profound and inspiring thoughts will continue to motivate future generations to serve the nation and uplift society.”
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took to X to say, “I bow in reverence on the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das. Your vibrant and impactful thoughts will always inspire future generations to serve the nation and uplift society.”
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav wrote on X, “I pay my humble tribute on the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter known as ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das. He dedicated his life to the country’s freedom and the upliftment of the poor. His sacrifices for nation-building and thoughts on self-rule will always remain exemplary.”
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini shared on X, “I pay my humble tribute on the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter, revered ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das. His dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the country’s freedom will continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation.”
Bihar BJP State President Sanjay Sarawagi wrote on X, “I pay heartfelt tributes on the death anniversary of ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das, a pioneer of national consciousness, founder of the Swaraj Party, and a key pillar of the freedom movement.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya posted on X, “I pay my humble tribute on the death anniversary of ‘Deshbandhu’ Chittaranjan Das, a pioneer of national consciousness and founder of the Swaraj Party! His personality, thoughts, and sacrifices ignited the flame of national awakening, providing new strength to the freedom movement. His loyalty to the country will always be remembered.”
Former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma noted that Chittaranjan Das, affectionately known as ‘Deshbandhu’ (Friend of the Nation), was born on November 5, 1870, in Kolkata and passed away on June 16, 1925. He was a significant figure in the Indian independence movement. Chittaranjan Das served as the defense lawyer for Aurobindo Ghosh in the Alipore Conspiracy Case (1908) and renounced his legal practice during the Non-Cooperation Movement. He presided over the Congress session in Ahmedabad in 1921 and was the founder of the Swaraj Party. He also chaired the All India Trade Union Congress in Lahore in 1923 and in Ahmedabad in 1924.
