Dahod, June 24: Opportunities for studying science, engineering, and medical fields are increasing in Gujarat’s tribal areas. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced on Wednesday that students from remote tribal regions are now able to pursue professional courses and careers that were previously difficult to choose due to limited educational facilities.
Speaking on the second day of the 24th ‘Shala Praveshotsav’ (School Admission Campaign) in Dahod district, Patel facilitated the enrollment of over 300 children in schools across the villages of Moti Kharaj, Rahadungri, and Gangarda. He stated that the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eradicate illiteracy in tribal areas has now transformed into a significant movement for educational development.
Patel emphasized that the school enrollment festival initiated by the Prime Minister has become a vast banyan tree for progress in education, aiming to eliminate the stigma of illiteracy in tribal communities. He noted that the hopes related to the education of tribal communities, which had remained unfulfilled for decades, are now being realized.
According to Patel, children who enrolled in schools during previous phases of the campaign have gone on to become doctors, engineers, and pilots. This reflects the long-term impact of ongoing efforts to improve access to education.
He described the Shala Praveshotsav as a major public campaign for change in the education sector and the holistic development of children. The state government is focused on developing modern educational infrastructure and ensuring quality education in rural and remote areas.
Patel mentioned that schools now feature smart classrooms, computer labs, internet connectivity, and modern science laboratories, enabling students from villages and distant areas to learn through contemporary methods and compete in a rapidly changing world.
He highlighted that various government campaigns and schemes aimed at bringing qualitative changes in education have allowed students to achieve new heights in their studies.
Discussing efforts to reduce the number of school dropouts, Patel noted that special initiatives are underway to reintegrate children who have left the education system. Officials and education department staff are visiting these children’s homes to understand their challenges and encourage them to return to school.
The Chief Minister also appealed to parents to actively participate in their children’s education.
