Ajmer, May 31: The ambitious Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme (PMKISY) has significantly transformed the landscape of various villages in Ajmer district, with millions of rupees invested in water conservation and irrigation projects. These initiatives have not only improved water availability in rural areas but have also yielded positive results in rainwater conservation and groundwater level enhancement.
Shalabh Tandon, the nodal officer for the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign in Ajmer district, stated that several water structures have been constructed under the PMKISY. In Tikawada village, projects such as water recharge shafts, tanks, and rainwater harvesting systems have been implemented, aiding in the preservation of rainwater and boosting groundwater levels.
He mentioned that the second phase of the scheme is currently underway, backed by a substantial budget approved by the central government. This crucial project aims to ensure water reaches every field while promoting better management of water resources.
Additionally, the scheme has facilitated the construction of bridges in highway areas, focusing on water drainage and conservation. This infrastructure aims to optimize the use of rainwater and assist in groundwater recharge.
Tandon emphasized that the efforts made through the PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme have provided relief to villagers in Ajmer. Farmers now have better access to water for irrigation, securing future water needs. The central government’s initiative is visibly realizing the goals of ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’ (Water for Every Field) and ‘Per Drop More Crop’ on the ground.
