
Chennai, June 23: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident in Qatar that claimed the lives of three individuals from the state. On Tuesday, he announced a financial assistance of ₹10 lakh for each family from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. The incident occurred on June 21 at an industrial facility located in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area of Qatar.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister conveyed his grief upon learning about the untimely deaths of three young employees from the Tirunelveli district.
The deceased have been identified as Habib (26), son of Thangaraja from Chidambarpuram-Yakubpuram in the Radhapuram taluk; Wajith Kumar (25), son of Muthuraja from Shivagami Puram near Panagudi; and Suvin (24) from Ajagiyanambiyapuram.
Vijay expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and stated that the state government is taking all necessary steps to repatriate the victims’ bodies to Tamil Nadu as soon as possible.
He mentioned that efforts are being coordinated through the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Qatar to expedite the return process. The Chief Minister also instructed K.S. Thenarasu, the Minister for the Welfare of Migrant Tamils, to closely monitor the situation and ensure prompt action on all matters related to the victims and their families.
The state government is in contact with relevant authorities to assist in the repatriation of the bodies and to provide support to the affected families.
While announcing relief measures, Chief Minister Vijay ordered that ₹10 lakh be allocated to each family of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. He emphasized that this financial aid aims to support families during this difficult time and reiterated the government’s commitment to stand by them.
