
Madhubani, June 3: A tragic incident occurred in the Patona police station area of Madhubani district, Bihar, where five children from the same family drowned while bathing in a large pond-like pit on Wednesday. The entire village is engulfed in grief following this heartbreaking event.
According to police reports, the incident took place in Kerwar village. Several children from the village had gone to bathe in a large pit filled with water, which had been excavated by a JCB machine in a nearby field. While enjoying their bath, the children ventured too far into the water and lost track of the depth, leading to their drowning one by one.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local villagers rushed to the scene to initiate rescue efforts. Unfortunately, all five children were confirmed dead. Their bodies have since been recovered from the water.
Reports indicate that all the deceased children belonged to the same family. The news of their tragic loss has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire Kerwar village. The parents and relatives of the children are devastated and inconsolable. Local police and administrative officials arrived promptly at the scene after being informed of the tragedy.
The police have taken custody of the bodies and initiated further procedures. The local administration expressed deep condolences to the affected families and assured them that appropriate government assistance under the disaster management department would be provided as soon as possible.
Residents have pointed out that while the pit has become pond-like, there are no safety measures in place, nor any warning signs to alert people of the dangers.
