Tragic Discovery: Student Found Dead in Hostel Room in Patna

Patna, June 2: A 17-year-old student from Samastipur district was found dead in her hostel room. According to police, she was preparing for law entrance exams and resided in a hostel located in the Secretariat Colony area of Patna.

The deceased had been living at Radhe Krishna Hostel, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Journalist Nagar police station, since 2024, focusing on the Common Law Admission Test.

Hostel warden Abha Singh reported that the student had dinner as usual on Monday night before returning to her room. There were no signs in her behavior indicating that she might take such a drastic step.

The warden described her as a quiet and reserved student who had recently returned to Patna after spending time in her village, following the completion of a study module.

During the initial investigation, police discovered that shortly before her death, she had an emotional phone conversation with a friend. An officer stated that she was crying during the call, and her friend attempted to comfort her. The friend urged her not to take any harmful actions and suggested she return home to be with her parents.

Reportedly, the student replied that her parents were not speaking to her.

Other students in the hostel informed investigators that she had appeared distressed in recent days, raising concerns that she might have been facing emotional challenges.

Upon receiving news of the incident on Tuesday morning, police promptly arrived at the hostel and initiated a thorough investigation. The SHO of Journalist Nagar police station confirmed that they found no suicide note in the room. The student’s mobile phone has been seized for further examination. A forensic team has been called in to gather evidence and inspect the scene.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem, and the family has been notified. Authorities stated that a clear understanding of the cause and circumstances of death will only be available after the forensic investigation and post-mortem report are completed.
