
New Delhi, June 2: The New Ashok Nagar police have arrested two individuals involved in mobile phone snatching. The suspects have been identified as Varun Sharma and Adil, both residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. Authorities recovered three stolen mobile phones along with a scooter used in the crime. One of the suspects has a history of involvement in 12 previous criminal cases.
On May 28, the police received a report of a mobile phone theft on Shani Market Road, Kondli, Delhi. Upon receiving the information, local police arrived at the scene and recorded the complainant’s statement. The complainant reported that while returning home from work, two unidentified individuals on a scooter snatched his mobile phone and fled the scene. Based on this statement, an FIR was registered at the New Ashok Nagar police station, and an investigation commenced.
To locate and apprehend the criminals, a police team was formed under the supervision of the SHO. During the investigation, the team reviewed CCTV footage from the area surrounding the incident and analyzed potential escape routes used by the suspects. Through thorough technical analysis and examination of the CCTV footage, the two suspects riding a white Honda Activa scooter were identified. The footage clearly showed them committing the theft.
Further investigation revealed that the scooter was registered under a printing company located in Sector 10, Noida. When questioned, the company owner stated that the scooter was being used by one of their employees, Hrithik. Upon inquiry, Hrithik disclosed that on the day of the incident, his friends Varun Sharma and Adil had borrowed the scooter. He later identified both individuals during the investigation.
Based on this information, police conducted raids at various locations and successfully arrested both suspects. The scooter used in the crime was seized. The suspects were presented before the court, and police custody was obtained. During intensive questioning, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the case. Subsequently, the stolen mobile phone belonging to the complainant, along with two other phones linked to different theft cases, were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
