Bengaluru, April 2: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Bengaluru, where a female software engineer and her 11-month-old son were found dead under suspicious circumstances.
The victims have been identified as Pratibha Wali and her infant son. Police discovered a suicide note at the scene, in which Pratibha detailed the reasons behind her tragic decision.
According to the note, her son’s accidental drowning in a bucket of water led to his death. Feeling responsible, she took her own life.
The complaint was filed by Pratibha’s husband, Mahantesh Wali, who is also an engineer. The family had been residing in a rented house in the Bairaveshwaranagar area of Bengaluru for the past four years.
On the day of the incident, April 1, Mahantesh left for work in the morning while Pratibha was working from home. When he returned in the evening, he found the front door locked from the inside. After several attempts to get a response, he used a spare key kept near a window to enter the house.
The scene inside was horrifying. Pratibha was found hanging from a hook on the ceiling with a saree. Mahantesh also noticed cuts on her wrist and blood scattered nearby. Their son was found unconscious on the bed and was later pronounced dead by doctors. In her suicide note, Pratibha expressed her anguish in English, stating that she could not save her child from drowning.
In her emotional note, Pratibha recounted that while she had gone to the terrace to dry clothes, her son had wandered into the wash area and drowned in the bucket. Blaming herself for not being able to save him, she wrote that her guilt led her to take this drastic step.
Police also found an empty tablet packet at the scene, suggesting that she may have consumed these medications before her death. Authorities believe that Pratibha attempted to end her life by ingesting pills and cutting her wrist. The police are currently investigating the case with utmost seriousness.
