East Godavari, June 23: A devastating road accident occurred in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Migrant workers from Gummadivedhi village in Samarlakota were returning from a concrete fencing project near Guntur when the tragedy struck. On June 16, a total of nine workers were hired for this task.
Around 2:00 AM on Monday night, the driver lost control, causing their Bolero vehicle to overturn. The vehicle was loaded with construction materials, which exacerbated the severity of the crash. Three workers died at the scene, while others sustained injuries.
The injured were promptly taken to a hospital in Peddapuram for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Anaparthi government hospital.
The victims have been identified as Masakapalli Balu, Muramalla Rajkumar, and Tathapudi Rajesh, all residents of Gummadivedhi village in Samarlakota. The driver also suffered injuries and is currently hospitalized in Peddapuram. Local police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
In a separate incident on the same day, three people lost their lives, and six others were injured when a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw near Vellalacheruvu in the Santamaguluru mandal of Prakasam district. According to police reports, ten individuals from Velpuru village in Palanadu district were traveling to attend a relative’s funeral when the accident occurred.
Sub-Inspector M. Pattabhiramayya of Santamaguluru stated that Davuluri Yedukondalu (60) and M. Ramamma (55) died at the scene, while Yalavarti Subbayamma (56) succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Narsaraopet. The injured have been identified as Gutta Subbayamma, M. Venkataramayya, M. Subbayamma, Boyapati Lakshmidevi, B. Anuradha, and the auto-rickshaw driver, Mira Wali, and are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Narsaraopet.
