TMC Compared to a Private Limited Company by Former CPI(M) MLA Tanmay Bhattacharya

Kolkata, June 15: In a bold statement, former CPI(M) MLA Tanmay Bhattacharya criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the political landscape of West Bengal. He asserted that when a political party becomes centered around a single individual, it ultimately results in a weakened organizational structure.

During an interview with a news agency, Bhattacharya claimed he had previously indicated that several party leaders, including associates of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, might politically diverge in the future, with a potential lean towards the NDA. He likened the TMC to a “private limited company,” stating that such parties tend to disintegrate once they lose power.

Bhattacharya also raised questions about the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) operations in connection with raids on properties linked to TMC leader Madan Mitra. He noted that these agencies have historically failed to file solid charge sheets in various cases and have not presented sufficient evidence in court. He accused the investigative agencies of facing ongoing scrutiny regarding their roles in political matters.

It is noteworthy that the ED conducted raids on multiple locations associated with TMC MLA Madan Mitra early Saturday morning in Kolkata. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mitra allegedly accepted bribes in cash and gold through intermediaries in exchange for appointing unqualified candidates in various municipalities, including the Kamrahati Municipality. He is linked to over 125 illegal appointments, with further investigations underway.

Additionally, in response to a viral photo showing him with BJP leaders, Bhattacharya clarified that he was not part of any political platform but had attended a football club event. He stated that he was present at the same event as BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar and senior leader Dilip Ghosh, where informal conversations and tea were shared. He emphasized that his personal relationships with individuals from various parties are amicable and should not be politicized.
