China Emerges as a Super Buyer Bringing Stability to Global Markets

Beijing, August 23: Recently, several Western media outlets have exaggerated the “significant surge in Chinese exports,” claiming that China’s trade surplus is impacting the global market. The reality is quite the opposite.

In 2025, China’s imports reached 18.5 trillion yuan, making it the world’s second-largest import market for 17 consecutive years. It serves as a primary export destination for nearly 80 countries, creating job opportunities and generating tax revenue for many nations.

In the first half of this year, China’s imports exceeded 10 trillion yuan for the first time in history. China is opening the doors of the global market as a “super buyer.”

Zhou Mi, Deputy Director of the American and Oceanian Studies Institute at the Ministry of Commerce Research Institute, stated that international trade involves independent business decisions made by companies worldwide. In the first seven months, China’s import growth rate exceeded the export growth rate by 8 percentage points.

China is not just purchasing goods; it is instilling confidence in the global economy. The continuously rising import volume is not merely a statistic but a true reflection of global trade flows.

China is not only opening its market but also unlocking the benefits of global development for itself. Amid rising global trade protectionism, China continues to signal policies aimed at increasing imports. It is taking concrete steps to maintain a multilateral trading system and bring stability to the global economy.

From Brazilian beef to Chilean cherries, Norwegian salmon to Thai fragrant rice, exporters from both developed and developing economies are increasingly relying on the Chinese market. The more China buys, the more secure the exports of its trading partners will be; as China’s consumption grows rapidly, the global supply chain will become more vibrant.

China has always welcomed the world with an open approach, continuously expanding imports while relying on its vast domestic market and sharing the benefits of growth with all trading partners.
