Three Arrested in Kidnapping of One-Year-Old Girl from Pune Railway Station

Pune, June 2: In a swift and coordinated response by the Bundgarden police station, a one-year-old girl kidnapped from Pune Railway Station has been safely recovered. The police apprehended three suspects within just 16 hours of the incident. Utilizing CCTV footage and technical investigations, authorities located the child and returned her to her family.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Drupada Laxman Gaikwad (35), Radha Lucky Adivasi (20), and Lucky Sandeep Adivasi (21). All three are residents of the Sundernagar area in Jalna district.

According to police reports, the complainant, Shivani Amol Bhosale (21), is a laborer from Malathan village in Shirur taluka, Pune district. Following a family dispute, she arrived at Pune Railway Station on May 30 with her daughter, Leela Amol Bhosale. Lacking relatives or accommodation in Pune, Shivani decided to spend the night in an open area near the Datt Temple, located in front of the railway reservation office.

At around 9:30 PM, Shivani woke up to find her daughter missing. After searching the vicinity extensively, she reported the matter to the Bundgarden police station. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare promptly formed a special investigation team. Under his guidance, three separate teams were established to search for the child. Investigators meticulously reviewed footage from over 70 CCTV cameras at Pune Railway Station and its surrounding areas for 12 continuous hours.

During the CCTV analysis, police discovered crucial leads. The footage showed two women and a man boarding the Pune-Nanded-Pune train from platform number 4 with the child. Consequently, police dispatched teams to the Daund and Kurduwadi railway stations.

Led by Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Chougule, officers Gyaneshwar Bade and Manoj Bhokare arrived at Daund Railway Station. Around 2:25 PM on Sunday, they located the three suspects within the station premises and initiated questioning.

Inspector Neelkanth Jagatap from Bundgarden police station stated that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to taking the girl from Pune Railway Station and traveling with her. Following this confession, the police arrested all three on charges of kidnapping.

Initial investigations revealed that the main female suspect, Drupada Gaikwad, had suffered an electric shock some time ago, resulting in her permanent inability to conceive. The inquiry also uncovered that she, along with her mother and daughter, had plotted to abduct a child from the railway station.

Fortunately, the police have successfully recovered the girl. Currently, they are investigating the true motives behind the kidnapping and whether a larger gang or racket is involved. The investigation is ongoing.
