Notorious Gangster Shabbir Ali Arrested by Delhi Police

New Delhi, June 26: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has apprehended notorious gangster Shabbir Ali, also known as Shabbir Chaudhary. For the past year, the Special Cell has been on the lookout for Shabbir, who was wanted in a MCOCA case. Nine members of this organized crime gang have already been arrested in connection with the case.

Police officials reported on Friday that Shabbir Ali was captured on June 14 at the Shambhu border in Haryana, based on reliable intelligence and technical analysis. He was subsequently brought to Delhi, where authorities seized an XUV 700 car and a scooter from him.

According to police, Shabbir Ali is the leader of the organized gang known as ‘Shabbir Chaudhary-Hashim Baba-Anwar Chacha.’ This gang primarily operates in the Trans-Yamuna and northeastern areas of Delhi, including Seelampur, Bhajanpura, Maujpur, Shahdara, and adjacent districts in Uttar Pradesh. Members of this gang face multiple charges, including extortion, murder, attempted murder, land grabbing, and other serious crimes. They have also been running their network from abroad, mainly in Nepal and Dubai.

In a recent operation against this gang, the Special Cell arrested sharpshooter Sohel, also known as Alam or Tauheed, who was found with a pistol and three live cartridges. Earlier, on December 11, 2025, two criminals linked to the gang, Jasim and Jahangir alias Ikka, were also arrested.

Officials revealed that Shabbir Ali hails from Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He entered the criminal world in the mid-1990s after coming into contact with Haji Afzal, a resident of Seelampur, and became involved in numerous cases of firing, murder, and gang rivalries in northeastern Delhi and the NCR region.

Following the murder of his brother, Shamim Ahmed, in 2008, Shabbir escalated his criminal activities. While in prison, he connected with several notorious criminals, including Hashim Baba and Anwar Khan alias Anwar Chacha. He has been arrested multiple times in various criminal cases, including one filed under MCOCA, and has been involved in a total of 14 criminal cases.
