Rajkot, June 2: The Bhaktinagar Railway Station in Rajkot, Gujarat, is undergoing a significant redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. With an investment of approximately ₹26.80 crores, the station is being equipped with modern, world-class facilities to ensure a safe, convenient, and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
The revamped station features several key enhancements aimed at passenger convenience. New amenities include an air-conditioned waiting room, VIP lounge, modern restrooms, improved parking facilities, and accommodations for differently-abled individuals.
Additionally, the complete modernization of the station building and the introduction of a new foot over bridge will further enhance passenger safety and convenience. These upgrades will particularly benefit women, the elderly, and differently-abled travelers.
Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, stated, “Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, over a thousand railway stations across the country are being transformed. The government is committed to providing better facilities for passengers. Based on the ongoing work under this scheme, we can confidently say that our railway stations will be prepared for the next 40 to 50 years.”
He mentioned that work is ongoing at 17 stations in the Rajkot division. Many of these stations are in the final stages of development, while work continues at others. The redevelopment of Bhaktinagar Station is part of this initiative, with continuous expansions planned to further enhance passenger amenities.
Vineet Abhishek emphasized that the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ambitious initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at giving Indian railway stations a world-class makeover. This scheme focuses not only on beautification but also on improving passenger amenities, cleanliness, safety, and digital facilities.
He added that the new look of Bhaktinagar Station is a significant step towards strengthening the railway infrastructure in Rajkot and across Gujarat. This redevelopment will also boost the local economy. Enhanced facilities are expected to increase passenger traffic at the station, which will invigorate nearby businesses and tourism. Western Railway is consistently emphasizing passenger-centric development.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway also indicated that additional features such as modern lifts, escalators, ample lighting, CCTV surveillance, and the use of green energy are likely to be incorporated in the future.
