Telangana Government Commits to Food Security for Eligible Families: Azharuddin

Hyderabad, August 16: The Minister for Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises in Telangana, Mohammad Azharuddin, announced on Sunday that the state government is dedicated to ensuring food security for every eligible family. He emphasized the importance of delivering welfare schemes transparently, effectively, and in a timely manner.

Azharuddin participated in a smart ration card distribution event held in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, addressing the beneficiaries. He stated that the distribution of smart ration cards is a significant step towards modernizing the Public Distribution System (PDS) and making government services more accessible to beneficiaries.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy initiated the distribution of smart ration cards on Saturday. These advanced cards, equipped with state-of-the-art security features, are being distributed to 10.6 million people.

The minister explained that the new smart ration cards will allow beneficiaries to easily manage information related to their ration cards and use it when necessary. He noted that the digital system will eliminate the issues associated with old ration booklets.

Azharuddin praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to public welfare, highlighting his focus on education and the various measures being taken to effectively deliver welfare schemes to the people.

He stated, “The Congress government is working diligently to fulfill its promises to the people. Benefits of welfare schemes should reach every eligible beneficiary directly and transparently, without unnecessary hassle.”

The minister mentioned that the state government is implementing welfare schemes such as free bus travel for women and the distribution of high-quality rice. He noted that several schemes are already in place, while the government is progressively working to fulfill remaining commitments.

Azharuddin also commended the efforts of Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is taking steps to strengthen the public distribution system, expand the reach of ration cards, and ensure the supply of quality rice.

Recalling his childhood experiences, Azharuddin shared that people previously faced significant challenges in obtaining rations and managing old ration booklets.

He remarked, “Today, technology has transformed the situation. Beneficiaries are receiving smart cards that can easily fit in pockets or purses, simplifying and making the process more transparent.”

The PVC smart ration cards, the size of credit cards, are durable, waterproof, and tear-resistant. They include nine advanced security features with an encrypted QR code to prevent counterfeiting.
