Guwahati, August 16: Good news has emerged for those in the sports community looking to secure a job with the railway. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has issued an official notification inviting applications for a total of 56 positions for qualified athletes across various sports.

The online application process for these vacancies began on July 25, with the deadline set for August 24. Interested candidates can submit their registration forms on the official Northeast Frontier Railway portal before or by the deadline.
Applicants must have completed their 10th grade (matriculation) or ITI from a recognized board/council/institution, or possess an equivalent qualification or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT, or have passed the 12th grade or an equivalent examination. Additionally, candidates should have represented the country in any Category-B championship/event or secured at least third place in any Category-C championship/event, or achieved at least third place in senior/youth/junior national championships, or secured third place in the National Games organized under the Indian Olympic Association, or placed third in the All India Inter-University Championship organized by the Association of Indian Universities, or achieved first place in the Federation Cup Championship (senior category) or at least third place in the same, or represented a state or equivalent entity (excluding marathon and cross-country) with at least eighth place in the senior national championship.
The minimum age for applicants is set at 18 years, while the maximum age is 25 years, calculated as of January 1, 2027. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.
Selection of eligible candidates will be based on shortlisting, sports performance trials, interviews, and evaluations of sports achievements, educational qualifications, and medical examinations. Selected candidates will receive a salary according to the 7th CPC pay matrix, ranging from Level-1 to Level-3 per month, along with additional benefits and allowances.
During the application process, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹500 for general/OBC/EWS candidates and ₹250 for SC/ST/ex-servicemen/women/minority and economically weaker section candidates.
