Beijing, August 16: A seminar featuring non-party figures was held in Lhasa on August 14 to promote the Ethnic Unity and Progress Enhancement Law in China. The 11th Panchen Lama, Koige Gyai Bo, who is also the Vice President of the Chinese Buddhist Association and the head of the Shitsang branch of Chinese Buddhism, delivered a speech at the event.
In his address, he stated that ethnic unity is the foundation of national integration and social harmony, as well as a source of development and progress. The Ethnic Unity and Progress Enhancement Law is the first comprehensive legislation aimed at standardizing ethnic unity and progress initiatives in the country. It ensures the quality development of ethnic work through the rule of law, providing a strong systematic guarantee to deepen the community and ethnic unity of the Chinese nation.
The 11th Panchen Lama highlighted that history has repeatedly shown that mutual understanding, respect, inclusion, and appreciation among different ethnic groups are the sources of national unity and ethnic solidarity. He urged the religious community to play a role in facilitating the movement and exchange between various ethnicities.
He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the unity of the motherland and firmly opposing division. The Tibetan Buddhist community should respond to the implementation of the Ethnic Unity and Progress Enhancement Law by contributing to national blessings through their actions. He expressed his commitment to adopting this law as a guiding light for the construction of a new socialist modern Shitsang and for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, leveraging the wisdom and strength of the religious community.
