Telangana DGP Directs Database Creation for Domestic Workers from Nepal and Other Countries

Hyderabad, June 8: Telangana’s Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand has instructed officials to compile comprehensive data on domestic workers from Nepal and other countries across the state.

He expressed concern over recent incidents involving individuals from other states, particularly Nepalese domestic workers, emphasizing the need for a systematic database that includes their living conditions and employment details.

Last month, a domestic helper from Nepal, along with accomplices, was involved in the murder of a retired IPS officer’s wife in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills, stealing valuables in the process. In another incident, a Nepalese couple working as domestic helpers tied up their employer and his wife, rendering them unconscious, and made off with 60 tolas of gold, 15 kilograms of silver, and other valuables.

In response, the DGP has reinstated the ‘Staff Officers Meeting,’ a bi-weekly gathering for senior officials from the DGP office and department heads to discuss policies, programs, and inter-departmental issues. This process had been halted, leading to noticeable coordination gaps among various wings of the department.

During the meeting, the DGP discussed several critical issues, including the establishment of a structured database for foreign domestic workers to enhance monitoring and security, the implementation of CCtNS 2.0, technology-based policing, and the adoption of AI, drones, and data intelligence systems.

He engaged in detailed discussions and reviews with senior officials and commissioners regarding the reorganization of police station boundaries, jurisdiction of bordering villages, and other related matters. He instructed officials to develop comprehensive plans for the reorganization of circles, zones, and villages to ensure administrative efficiency and operational effectiveness.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of CCtNS 2.0, strengthening police arrangements, modernizing existing manual processes, and planning future policing initiatives. It was preliminarily decided to hold a ‘Police Retreat’ in November and a ‘Women Police Conference’ in October.

To improve gender equality and working conditions for female police personnel, the DGP recommended the effective implementation of 33% reservation for women in the police force.

The DGP highlighted the importance of technology in modern policing and the need for greater adoption of technology-based policing systems. Senior officials discussed the implementation of key applications, the expansion of CCtNS 2.0, and increased utilization of the TG Cops platform. They noted that technology could significantly enhance policing capabilities by improving response times for emergency calls, identifying troublemakers, and accessing criminal history from databases.

He urged officials to focus on AI-based policing, drone technology, HRMS, data intelligence systems, and smart applications, encouraging them to advance with the vision of ‘Telangana Smart Policing – Utilizing Technology.’

Discussions also covered manpower management, vehicle audits, staff utilization, and traffic management systems. The meeting addressed the future needs for systems to enhance traffic management and road safety, as well as specific methods to prevent food adulteration.

In another meeting, the DGP stated that the Telangana State Police Department was once among the leading police organizations in the country in adopting and utilizing technology. However, due to improper use of available technological systems and shortcomings in field-level implementation in recent years, the department has fallen behind in certain areas.

Addressing various unit officials and SHOs via video conference, the DGP emphasized the need for effective use of available technological resources and strengthening the database-driven policing system.

He clarified that technology is not merely about creating software applications; it heavily relies on effective usage, continuous updates, and real-time data management.
