Tejashwi Yadav Slams Government Over Rising Fuel Prices, Warns of Severe Inflation Ahead

Patna, May 23: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has criticized the government for the recent hike in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices. He warned that the public will face severe inflation in the coming days.

Yadav pointed out that the Modi government has once again increased the prices of CNG, petrol, and diesel. He noted that the NDA government has raised fuel prices by nearly ₹5 in the last ten days, which averages to a 50 paise increase per day. He stated that further increases are likely.

In a post on the social media platform X, Yadav remarked, “Even when crude oil was cheaper, they were draining your pockets to profit private companies, and they continue to do so. The price of crude oil in 2014 was much lower than it is now, yet petrol and diesel prices have doubled.”

He claimed that the public will soon face severe inflation, job losses in the private sector, a return of migrant workers, a decline in small industries, and an increase in poverty and unemployment. Yadav criticized the government for focusing on “hate business, speeches, reels, and entertainment” instead of addressing critical issues like jobs, poverty, inflation, unemployment, agriculture, education, and health.

He accused the government of misusing constitutional institutions and managing headlines rather than engaging in meaningful discussions about the economy and the welfare of farmers.

It is important to note that government oil marketing companies have raised petrol and diesel prices again, marking the third increase in just ten days. Petrol prices have gone up by ₹0.87 per liter, while diesel has seen an increase of ₹0.91 per liter. This rise is attributed to the surge in global crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which are impacting the international energy market.
