New York, July 23: The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has reported that Angela Ramprasad, an American soldier of Indian descent, is feared dead following an Iranian attack on a military base in Jordan.
The 25-year-old Army Sergeant is believed to have died during an enemy assault on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on July 17, 2026. The Pentagon stated that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Initially reported missing, her status was later changed to “Duty Status – Unknown,” and it is now presumed that she has died.
Angela hailed from a community of Indian descent that migrated from Guyana to the United States. According to a local Democratic Party leader, her father is named Basdev Ramprasad.
The Pentagon noted that Angela resided in Ozone Park, Queens, a neighborhood with a significant population of Indian-origin individuals from Guyana.
Democratic Party leader Pesach Osina remembered her as “a precious gift to everyone who knew her.” He emphasized that Angela wanted to protect others and fulfilled her duties with courage and humility.
Osina mentioned on X that he has been in constant contact with Angela’s father, Basdev Ramprasad, her mother, Carol Acevedo, and the entire family since this tragic incident.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that revenge would be taken for the deaths of Angela and other American soldiers in this attack. He remarked on Wednesday that Iran would “pay a very high price” for this assault.
Previously, he wrote on Truth Social, “Every time Iran takes the life of an American soldier, they will pay a multiple of that price.”
If Angela’s death is officially confirmed, she would be the fourth American soldier to lose her life in this attack. This incident occurred amid a renewed conflict between the U.S. and Iran, which reignited after a fragile peace established by a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two nations last month was broken.
