Bhopal, May 28: A technical reassessment of the rail line alignment passing through Panna, which connects Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, has been ordered. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw issued these instructions to railway officials. A significant portion of the Lalitpur–Singrauli rail line has been completed, but work between Satna and Khajuraho is progressing slowly. There are concerns about potential environmental impacts due to forest areas being affected.
The rail line traverses the forest region of Panna. Minister Vaishnaw has conducted a detailed study of drone photographs and topographical sheets related to the project’s alignment. He has directed officials to carry out a technical reassessment of the current alignment. A team of experts will be involved to explore all possible options for constructing the railway line, aiming to minimize environmental impact and preserve as many trees as possible.
Additionally, the minister has instructed that for every tree affected in the impacted area, more than double the number should be planted before the upcoming monsoon. Indian Railways is committed to balancing development and environmental protection. This project will play a crucial role in enhancing regional connectivity, economic development, and social inclusion.
The Lalitpur–Singrauli rail line project is a vital connectivity initiative linking Bundelkhand and the Vindhya region. It represents a significant step towards connecting the backward and remote areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to the rail network. The proposed rail line will link the eastern region of Madhya Pradesh to the Jhansi–Bhopal main rail route, providing a new impetus for regional development, employment, and transportation.
