Lucknow, April 15: Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is one of the most promising industrial states in India. He stated that the presence of the Tata Group in the state is set to double in the coming years. The favorable investment climate, improved infrastructure, and strong leadership provide extensive opportunities for industrial expansion. Chandrasekaran made these remarks during the flag-off event for Tata Motors’ 1 millionth bus in the capital.
He noted that the rapidly developing infrastructure, robust policy support, and investment-friendly environment are making Uttar Pradesh a key hub for industrial growth. Praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, he highlighted the visible pace of development in the state. Due to the state government’s policies and support, industries are gaining better opportunities for expansion, leading to significant investments and the creation of new jobs. The immense potential, increasing economic activities, and youthful workforce in Uttar Pradesh position it as a major growth engine for the country. He expressed confidence that in the coming years, the state will reach new heights in industrial, technological, and social development.
Chandrasekaran remarked that the Tata plant in Lucknow is not just an industrial unit; it represents a robust ecosystem developed in collaboration with suppliers, partners, and the local community. This milestone of producing 1 million vehicles over 34 years symbolizes the strong relationship and continuous journey of growth between the Tata Group and the Uttar Pradesh government. He expressed optimism that, given the current progress, the target of producing 2 million vehicles in the next five years is achievable. He believes that India’s economy will grow at the fastest pace globally in the coming decades, with Uttar Pradesh playing a leading role in this growth journey.
He also mentioned that Tata Motors’ portfolio is rapidly expanding, including traditional diesel vehicles, CNG, electric, and future hydrogen-based vehicles. This positions Uttar Pradesh as a significant manufacturing and export center, not just for India but for the global market. Highlighting the expansion of other Tata Group companies, he noted that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) currently employs around 20,000 professionals in Lucknow, Noida, and Varanasi, with the number expected to reach 40,000 in the next five years. Additionally, the group is rapidly expanding in sectors such as power, defense, retail, and hospitality, creating new job opportunities.
Chandrasekaran pointed out that the Tata Group’s contributions extend beyond industrial development. The group is actively involved in social initiatives, including water conservation, skill development, and artificial intelligence. Projects such as the rejuvenation of water sources in Mathura and the establishment of an AI Technology Center of Excellence in Gorakhpur are part of their efforts. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that the government’s support and visionary policies have made this development possible.
