SRH Replaces David Pein with South African Bowler Gerald Coetzee Ahead of IPL 2026 Match

Hyderabad, April 18: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has announced the replacement for David Pein, who is sidelined due to injury, ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday evening.

SRH has signed South African all-rounder Gerald Coetzee as Pein’s replacement for ₹2 crore. Coetzee went unsold in the IPL 2026 auction.

Previously, Coetzee has been part of the IPL, having played for the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. In his 14 matches, he has taken 15 wickets.

Coetzee is also a useful lower-order batsman, enhancing SRH’s strength in both bowling and batting departments.

In addition, SRH received good news as their regular captain Pat Cummins, who has been recovering from injury, has been declared fully fit. He is expected to rejoin the team soon and could play against Rajasthan Royals on April 25.

Cummins, a World Cup-winning captain, will bolster SRH’s leadership, as well as strengthen the team’s bowling and batting.

Currently, SRH sits fifth in the standings with 4 points from 2 wins and 3 losses in their first five matches of the season. The upcoming match against CSK is crucial for the team to improve their position in the table.

In their last match against RR, debuting fast bowlers Praful Hinge and Saqib delivered outstanding performances, playing a key role in securing victory. The captain will be looking for similar performances from both bowlers against CSK.
