Mumbai, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Tanisha Mukerji took to social media on Sunday to address what she perceives as elitist attitudes among some individuals she describes as “well-educated upper-caste Hindus.” Her remarks came amid discussions about Elon Musk’s support for a particular Indian billionaire and the controversies surrounding it.
In a lengthy post on the platform X, Mukerji expressed her frustration with those who seem to favor Western countries like the UK and the US. “If you love London and America so much, please go there,” she wrote. “We don’t want you here trying to belittle us.”
Mukerji acknowledged that India faces numerous challenges but emphasized the significant progress the country has made over the past decade. She criticized the tendency to label supporters of the government as “blind followers” while those backing groups that undermine India from abroad are seen as modern and aware.
While she did not name any specific individuals in her post, Mukerji mentioned that she was cautious about naming names in relation to the issues involving Musk. She urged people to maintain their critical thinking and not lose their reasoning due to media influence. “There is a battle for your thoughts, attention, and ideas,” she warned, encouraging her followers to base their opinions on facts and logic.
Mukerji’s comments come in light of Musk’s recent frustration over the Indian government’s refusal to allow his satellite internet service, Starlink, into the market. Musk alleged that a prominent Indian billionaire had a hand in blocking Starlink’s entry.
With this post, Mukerji questions the narrative surrounding supporters of the Indian government and reiterates her belief in the country’s potential for growth. This isn’t the first time she has made headlines; she previously criticized the Maharashtra State Electricity Board, labeling it a “mafia.”
Her latest statement continues to stir conversations about national pride and the perception of India in a global context.
