New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin is garnering positive feedback for his performance in the recently released web series “Shak: Trust No One.” During a promotional event in New Delhi, he shared his experiences working with director Rensil D’Silva, known for infusing depth and excitement into his narratives. Bhasin described D’Silva as a calm and easy-going individual in real life, contrasting with the intense themes of his stories.
While promoting the series alongside co-stars Parineeti Chopra and Soni Razdan, Bhasin emphasized the beauty of working with D’Silva. “Anyone who has collaborated with him will tell you he is incredibly calm and relaxed. He is not a serious or tense person at all,” he remarked.
Bhasin particularly appreciates D’Silva’s ability to develop multiple significant characters simultaneously. He drew parallels to the cult classic film “Rang De Basanti,” highlighting a similar quality in the writing style of the series, where each character embarks on their own journey.
The actor praised the storytelling method in “Shak: Trust No One,” noting that as viewers progress through the series, they realize it stands apart from other mystery thrillers. The narrative unfolds from various character perspectives, allowing the audience to piece together clues and solve the mystery themselves.
“As you watch the series, you realize it differs from other mystery thrillers. You encounter diverse viewpoints, which makes it engaging as viewers connect the puzzle pieces themselves,” he explained.
Regarding D’Silva’s directing style, Bhasin noted that the director does not micromanage his actors. Instead, he communicates what he expects from a scene while leaving the rest to the actors’ understanding and capabilities. This freedom allows performers to grasp their characters and portray them authentically on screen.
“Shak: Trust No One” explores themes of trust, doubt, and betrayal through the story of a mother who has spent nine years searching for her missing child. Despite receiving annual photographs of her child, she remains desperate to uncover the truth.
As the investigation unfolds, she discovers that the truth behind the child’s abduction may lie hidden among her closest relationships. The series delves into the layers of relationships, trust, and suspicion as the plot progresses.
Directed by Rensil D’Silva and conceived by D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra, the series features an ensemble cast including Tahir Raj Bhasin, Parineeti Chopra, Soni Razdan, Jennifer Winget, Anup Soni, Harleen Sethi, and Sumit Vyas. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
