New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : President Donald Trump has declared an ‘energy ceasefire’ in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This announcement was made via his platform, Truth Social, and has been confirmed by the White House.
In his post, Trump stated, “An energy ceasefire is now in effect between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides have agreed to this. Please do not violate it. Thank you for your attention.” The White House reiterated this message, emphasizing the immediate implementation of the ceasefire concerning energy matters.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that Ukraine would halt attacks on Russian oil refineries if Russia ceased its assaults on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Just a day before, Trump attributed rising diesel prices in the U.S. to Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries and urged Zelensky to stop these strikes. He suggested that it might be time for Ukraine to consider a change in leadership, asserting that Zelensky had missed several opportunities for negotiation with Russia.
In discussions with reporters, Trump expressed that Moscow appears ready for negotiations, while Kyiv’s willingness is less clear. He remarked, “I believe Russia wants to make a deal. There have been many back-and-forth discussions on this issue, but Russia is prepared to negotiate.”
Trump reiterated his belief that the conflict, which began in February 2022, could have been resolved multiple times. He expressed confidence that President Putin genuinely seeks a solution and agreement.
These comments follow a recent phone conversation between Trump and Putin, amid growing tensions over U.S. sanctions on Russian diesel exports.
