Tamil Nadu Elections: Vijay to Seek Votes in Karaikudi with Enhanced Security Measures

Chennai, April 9: As preparations for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections intensify, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is set to ramp up his campaign. On Friday, he will engage directly with voters during a major public outreach event in Karaikudi. The administration has implemented strict security measures for this gathering.

This visit is part of Vijay’s statewide election campaign, where he is actively connecting with citizens across various constituencies. During the Karaikudi event, he will campaign in support of his party’s candidates for four seats: Karaikudi, Manamadurai, Shivganga, and Tirupathur.

Vijay will specifically seek votes for party candidate Dr. D.K. Prabhu in Karaikudi. Party leaders anticipate a large turnout, making this event politically significant.

According to party sources, permission has been requested to hold the rally near the Thevar statue from noon to 4 PM. Officials from the Election Commission and police department have convened to review the preparations. Following this, a team led by District Superintendent of Police Shivprasad and Karaikudi’s Assistant Superintendent of Police Ashish Puniya inspected the venue.

During the inspection, they assessed security arrangements, crowd control, and other necessary measures to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. Officials also met with candidate Dr. D.K. Prabhu to discuss the rally’s logistics and plans.

TVK representatives indicate that the event’s approval is likely to come with certain conditions to maintain law and order and ensure compliance with the code of conduct.

Given the potential for a large crowd, the administration has tightened security further. Barricades have been set up around transformers, electric poles, and tall trees to prevent supporters or workers from climbing. Additionally, the police presence will be increased, and extra personnel will be deployed to manage traffic.
