Chennai, June 23: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has asserted that he is working to recover funds that were misappropriated under the guise of “party funds” across various departments. He emphasized that the government is not functioning due to anyone’s benevolence but rather on the trust of the public.
In a recent statement, the Chief Minister said, “Just as we are recovering funds in the case of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TMSMAC), we are bringing back the money that was looted in the name of ‘party funds’ across different departments. We firmly state that we will not touch a single penny of the public’s money, nor will we allow anyone else to do so. If someone attempts to do so, we will not spare them. Those who have done this in the past will also face consequences.”
Vijay further remarked, “As corruption cases emerge, will not every mask eventually fall off? Many people are scared, which is why they are launching smear campaigns against us. Now, they have come up with a new narrative, claiming that our government operates on someone’s benevolence. No, this government exists due to the grace of the public and those with a conscience. Some claim, ‘We sent them to power.’ If those who claim they sent us to power had been given positions in the Cabinet, why is there so much crying and complaining now?”
The Chief Minister continued, “The Communist Party of India (Marxist) claims their decision to support us was independent. The Communist Party of India also states that their support was a free decision. So where does the claim of ‘we sent them to power’ come from? The public is watching everything very closely.”
Vijay concluded, “Dr. Ambedkar’s century-old dream has now been fulfilled. I am speaking loudly because I want the opposition members to hear me. Those in the opposition who claim to be protectors of women have included how many women in their Cabinet? We have appointed four women as ministers in our Cabinet. To those rejected by the public, we have just one thing to say: only those who can say, ‘We will not do wrong, we will remain honest,’ can come forward to form a coalition government. Only such individuals can step forward to share power and authority. Those steeped in corruption will never come forward for governance or power-sharing, regardless of whether they have a majority. They always had a ready answer that ‘people do not want coalition governments.’ Today, the public is mocking those very individuals.”
