Nagpur, August 30: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has responded to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat‘s recent statement. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that he typically refrains from commenting on Bhagwat’s remarks. However, he affirmed that the underlying principle is indeed correct, as the essence of Hindutva is tolerance.
CM Fadnavis stated, “Firstly, we never comment on what Mohan Bhagwat says. However, the principle behind it is absolutely correct because the essence of Hindutva is tolerance. Hindu civilization is one of the oldest in the world, and its survival is due to our adherence to core principles. Despite invasions from around the world, we have endured them with tolerance, and many invaders have assimilated into our cultural framework.”
He further added, “India has not only embraced the rejected people of the world but has also integrated them into its culture. We have brought them into the mainstream of India. Therefore, I always say, do not teach Hindus about religious tolerance. Tolerance is in the blood of Hindus, and a significant aspect of Hindutva is tolerance. Tolerance does not mean to suffer silently; it means to move forward together, to treat everyone equally, and to respect all religions. This is what Hindutva has taught us. If someone attacks you, there should be a response, but Hindus never attack; they always strive to include everyone.”
It is noteworthy that Mohan Bhagwat addressed over 180 participants from 30 countries at the ‘One World, One Humanity’ event in New York. During this event, he responded to questions regarding the organization’s perspective on Muslims.
Recalling a conversation with Muslim participants in Delhi in 2018, he stated, “I said then—no, he is not a Hindu. If any Hindu believes that there should be no Muslims in India, then he will not remain a Hindu. If you want to call yourself a Hindu, you must accept that all paths lead in the same direction. Every human being has dignity. There should be no discrimination among humans.”
Meanwhile, CM Devendra Fadnavis and Minister Ganesh Naik visited the Gorewada Zoo Safari in Nagpur. After the safari, they are scheduled to meet with officials to discuss the development of the zoo, wildlife conservation, and safari arrangements at the Hinduhṛidayasamrat Late Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park.
