Bishkek, August 30: Kyrgyz television presenter and actor Almiz Alimjanov expressed his excitement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Kyrgyzstan. He stated that this is a significant moment for the country, as PM Modi is visiting again. “This is not his first visit. India’s culture is renowned worldwide,” he remarked.
Almiz described PM Modi’s arrival as a gift for Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing India’s stature as a large and influential nation. He believes this visit is beneficial for Kyrgyzstan.
The actor noted that although Kyrgyzstan and India do not share a border, many people in Kyrgyzstan admire India. “For instance, Indian films and traditional clothing are quite popular here,” he added.
Reflecting on his childhood, Almiz recalled that about 25 years ago, Bollywood films were widely watched in Kyrgyzstan. “Even today, we enjoy Indian movies because the culture, attire, and various aspects of India are fascinating. This is why the relationship between Kyrgyzstan and India feels like a friendship. I cherish this bond. We may not be neighboring countries, but we consider India a close friend,” he stated.
Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Bishkek on August 31, following his bilateral visit to Uzbekistan. This will be his third visit to Kyrgyzstan, having first traveled there in 2015 and then again in 2019 for the SCO summit. He is returning now for the 26th SCO summit, which is being held in Kyrgyzstan.
The summit will take place from August 31 to September 1, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, of which India has been a full member since 2017.
During the summit, the Prime Minister will address the gathering, highlighting India’s priorities regarding security, connectivity, and opportunities. He will also hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders and participate in the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games, celebrating Central Asia’s rich cultural heritage.
