
Jammu, June 7: An army officer was martyred during an ongoing anti-terror operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. This operation has now entered its 15th day. According to officials, the officer lost his life while on duty as part of this operation.
Lieutenant Beershwar Goswami tragically fell into a deep gorge in the rugged forests of the Manjakot area. Security forces were conducting a significant anti-terror operation named ‘Operation Sherwali,’ searching for terrorists believed to be hiding in the region.
Officials reported that this young officer was part of the joint security team involved in the operation, which has now reached its 15th day. The incident occurred under extremely challenging conditions, including steep terrain, dense forests, and adverse weather.
Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, but despite the valiant attempts of fellow soldiers and teams, Lieutenant Goswami could not be saved and succumbed to his injuries.
The White Knight Corps, based in Nagrota, expressed profound sorrow while paying tribute to the martyred officer. In a statement, the Corps said, “The GOC of the White Knight Corps and all ranks express deep grief over the untimely demise of Lieutenant Beershwar Goswami, who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty. His dedication, unwavering courage, and selfless service will always inspire us.”
The army extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Meanwhile, officials reported that the anti-terror operation in the Manjakot area of Rajouri continues. Joint security forces are conducting extensive searches and cordon operations to apprehend the terrorists.
Lieutenant Beershwar Goswami’s sacrifice once again highlights the significant challenges faced by security forces in safeguarding the nation in rugged and difficult terrains.
‘Operation Sherwali’ commenced 15 days ago after terrorists fired upon an army patrol party in the forests of Dorimal Mughalan in Rajouri district. Additional forces were dispatched to the site, and joint security forces initiated a large-scale cordon and search operation, which is still ongoing.
